Are you ready for a night out? Sure you are, and you deserve it! Sign your children up for Sci-Quest's Parents' Night Out and spend a Friday or Saturday night on your terms. Your children will enjoy a pizza dinner, age-appropriate science activities, and time with Sci-Quest's hands-on exhibits.

Parents' Night Out is offered for children ages 4-12. Admission is $20 for the first child and $15 for each additional child in the same family. Sci-Quest Members receive a 10 % discount.

Advanced reservations are required. Registration must be completed by noon on the day of the event.

New for 2012!

Due to popular demand, both Friday and Saturday sessions will offer different hands-on activities based around a monthly theme.  In addition, we have added special programs specifically geared toward children ages 4-6.

  • January 7 and 20 - Snow Day

    Ages 4-6: Hats and mittens are not required!   We'll have snow much fun as we explore the science of snowflakes, make our own snow, and do icy hands-on activities.      

    Ages 7+: You would be surprised on much science goes into snow!  Meteorology, chemistry, and physics will be explored in these fun filled activities while making some cool snow crystal projects to take home.
  • February 4 and 17 - Spaced Out

    Ages 4-6:  Twinkle, twinkle little star; let’s find out what you are.  Children will explore the universe as they learn about the planets, the moon and stars.  Your child is sure to have ball in this cosmically charged class.

    Ages 7+: Your child will learn about how stars are formed and the differences between them. They will find out how stars are organized into constellations, how stars are formed and make star projects to take home.
  • March 10 and 23 - Rocks Rock!

    Ages 4-6: We’ll discover how rocks are formed and how rocks have some strange and interesting characteristics.  Your child will be sure to have a “rockin” good time as we make rock themed projects and do hands-on rock activities.

    Ages 7+:  Give your child a hands-on look at rocks and how the rock cycle works. Take a closer look at the types of rocks and how they form and make rock themed projects to take home. It is sure to be a “rockin” good time!
  • April 7 and 20 - Move It

    Ages 4-6:  Join us as we explore the different modes of transportation. Your child will be whisked away by wheels, water and wings.  “Toot, Toot!”  Climb aboard for fun!

    Ages 7+: Your child’s creativity will launch as they build their own contraption to “move it” using the engineering design process.  Children will be challenged to plan, create and improve their design as they complete this challenge.
  • May 5 and 18 – Reptiles Rule

    Ages 4-6: Come join the fun as we learn about some of Sci-Quest’s resident reptiles.  Children will get to learn about and even touch these amazing animals in a safe environment.  Your future zoologist is sure to have a wonderfully, wild time in this program!

    Ages 7+: Whether it’s Snuggles the snake or Mighty the tortoise, Sci-Quest’s reptiles have a lot to teach us about zoology and about caring for animals.    In addition to having a one-on-one encounter with the animals, children will learn about reptile biology, ecology, and habitats through hands-on activities.
     
  • June 2 and 15 - What's the Matter?

    Ages 4-6: Solid? Liquid? Gas?  We’ll explore the different states of matter in the ultimate hands-on way –by making a mess!  Join us as we examine the many properties of mysterious substances.  Science has never been so icky, or fun!

    Ages 7+:  Your child will have a grand time making exploding bottles, examining the mysteries of Mentos fountains, and experimenting with different kinds of sodas in this exciting class.

  • July 7 and 20 - It's Good to Be Green

    Ages 4-6: Children will have a terrific time turning trash into treasures.  Join us as we learn the 3 R’s of conservation: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.  It’s never too early to make our world a healthier and happier place.

    Ages 7+:  Through hands-on activities, children learn about ways to reduce impacts on our environment, including how to save energy and resources, create less waste, and enjoy and protect our local ecosystems.

  • August 4 and 17 - Machine Mania
    Ages 4-6:  Machines help make our lives easier and more fun.  Learn about the different types of simple machines and make an example to take home.

    Ages 7+: Your child will have a far out time as we get a grasp on gears!  Participants will be using K’NEX to construct different types of gears and grapple with how they and other types of simple machines work.

  • September 1 and 21 – Blinkers and Buzzers
    Ages 4-6:  Your child will have a “shocking” good time in this program about magnets and electricity.  Join in the electron chase as we discover how circuits work and even make a magnetic toy to take home.

    Ages 7+: Learn about the movement of electrons and how that produces electricity.  Children will make different types of circuits and get electrical toys to take home.

  • October 6 and 19 - Spooky Science
    Ages 4-6: You won't need a light to see how cool science can be! Children will investigate the different ways things can glow by doing hands-on chemical reactions, and make some ghoulish science projects to take home.

    Ages 7+: Get your child charged up with this high voltage program about lightning and chemistry.  We’ll discover the awesome power of static electricity and make some cool glow potions to take home.

  • November 3 and 16 - Make it Count

    Ages 4-6: Grab your pencils, pocket books and pot holders and let’s start counting.  You child will discover that math is at the grocery store, in the kitchen and everywhere in between.  It’s sure to add up to a lot of fun!

    Ages 7+: Is your child a spender or a saver?  Do they understand the value of a dollar?  Making change, coming to a total and figuring out how many coins are needed for a purchase will have your kids rolling in dough.  We will even get your child excited about math and fractions by using food and other items

  • December 1 and 21 – Holiday
    This holiday themed program is NEW every year. Children make science-themed presents for their friends and family.
